New Moon
Saturn Retrograde
Jupiter Retrograde
Rainy and mild

Five scenes of Glam Hearts last night. I have to do the sequence in and around the nightclub and a scene or two where Harriet gets Leonard to play the piano, the scene where Leonard gives Martine the dog, and the scene where Josephine sees the portrait from her youth. And then I’ll have what I need and can see where I need bridges. Another few days, and I hope to have the first draft done. Then, I want to put it away for a few days before overhauling it. Thirty-nine out of sixty scenes are written.

Class was good. Five regulars, and three people who happened to be in the café and got interested in what we were doing. So there are now eight lively, intelligent students, again very different from each other. If this was a TV movie I was casting, I couldn’t have done it better. And I mean it in the best possible way. They roll up their sleeves and work. They’ll try anything.

And we do try all sorts of wacky stuff. We split up into teams of three. Each team was given a topic of conversation. Two people had the conversation while the third jotted it down. The actual, word-for-word conversation. This is so they can see how boring real conversation is. Their assignment, for next week, is to create two characters, cut out the boring bits – but keep the actual words and create an interesting scene. They can’t invent new ones. We’ll build on what they come up with next week.

Three pages of Ransagh last night. That’s been neglected the past few days, and the characters are getting annoyed. I left them in a cave tunnel and they’re getting impatient.

My back hurts from all the hours sitting in front of a computer. And the computer is wonky – both the Microsoft software and the AOL software have glitches, and I’m sick of it.

Off to do an episode of Charlotte before catching the train in to the city for the regular Tuesday day call.

Your class sounds like so much fun! And so original - what a way to teach. Hope the people in it are as good as they seem!

Wow! That's a lot of writing; no wonder your back hurts.

Your class sounds wonderful! I've never done anything like that.
