May 18 Preakness Ink

Giacomo had a nice workout at Churchill, and ships to Maryland today. He seems ready for the next leg of the Triple Crown.

If it rains, take an even closer look at Greeley’s Galaxy. He’s a horse who seems to like to play in the mud.

There’s a horse called Golden Man, trained by Richard Dutrow with John Velazaquez named as rider. Although it doesn’t look like he’ll get in – the field is limited to 14, and, right now, he’s No. 15 – if he gets in, take a look. I don’t ever want to discount a horse JV thinks is worthwhile.

Funny Cide watch: Our ever lovin’ Funny Cide is scheduled to race on Friday in the Pimlico. If he actually ends up running, he’ll be worth a few bucks.

Don’t discount Scrappy T simply because he skipped the Derby. This is a scrappy horse.

Wilko will run in the Preakness. He bled in the Derby, but his connections seem to think they have it solved. He’s worth a show bet, at least.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Giacomo, Galloping Grocer, and Greeley’s Galaxy hit the Preakness 1-2-3? What would they call it? 5 G’s? Might be worth a boxed trifecta just for fun.
