The tests on the horse at Belmont suspected of having strangles came back negative, as did the tests on the other horses in the barn. The horses are back in training, the sick horse recuperates upstate; barns have been disinfected and repainted.
The 33 horses quarantined at Delaware Park due to strangles worries have also tested negative, and that quarantine has been lifted.
Unfortunately, there’s now a quarantine at Prairie Meadows for equine herpes.
Let’s hope it’s all resolved soon. Belmont has done everything to ensure the safety of the horses on site, and the horses shipping in.
Jeremy Rose is doing the smart thing – he’s riding at Belmont all week, so that by Sunday’s race, he’s got the track in his body.
Is anyone else burned out on the “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” story? Yes, I teared up the first three or four times I saw it/read it. But now it’s the three hundredth time and it’s just too much. It’s a great cause, and I’ll buy lemonade at Belmont (and give it to someone – I’m allergic to citrus), but enough already. At least come up with new material on how the charity is growing. Don’t keep showing the same footage over and over and over and over and . . .
Pinpoint’s odds are 30-1. Fine with me. I don’t mind making some money on Saturday . . .
